Ø  Garbo

The word Garbo is derived from 'Garbhadip'. Lamps arranged with holes in the matli or pot are called garbo. Women carry this garba on their heads on Navratri and sing garba of Adyashakti Bahuchar, Chamunda, Ambika etc.

 

Ø  Dandiya Ras

 This is the dance of Saurashtra men and especially Mer men. The participant holds two sticks in their hands and moves rhythmically in a circle together.






Ø  Poverty

It is a union dance usually performed by men.





Ø  Comment dance

Shramhari dance of Koli sisters of Chorwad and dance of Kharvan sisters of Veravar in which they dance with tipping action.

 





Ø  Loop knitting

 This dance is the dance of the Kolis and Kanbis of Saurashtra. In which a beautiful knot of colored thread is filled and untied with dance. Men also participate in this dance.

Ø  Dhol Rano

 This dance is usually performed by the Kolis of Gohilwad Panthak when the crops are threshed.





Ø  Manjira dance of Padharos

 Dances in harmony with the manjira in a circle through the lance-pipes.




Ø  Dhamal dance of Siddis

 It is a dance of the Sidi Muslim people originally established in Gujarat, Africa. There is a three hundred year old settlement of Sidi people in Jambusar village near Jafarabad.

 This dance is performed with mashira (coconut shells), dhamal (small drum), mathami sara (women's bells), peacock feathers etc.

 




Ø  Rasada

Men take rasada on religious and social occasions in Saurashtra.

 


Ø  Killed

 

 This is a folk dance of the Thakoros of Vav taluk of Banaskantha.

 




Ø  Mandvi and Jag dance

During Navratri, sisters of Thakor, Rajput, Patidar etc. communities in North Gujarat dance with mandvi or jag on their heads.

Ø 



B    Bhil dance

Tribal men of Bhil caste of Panchmahal perform a kind of war dance with weapons such as arrows, spears etc. In which the men go into a frenzy and dance with loud jumps and squeals.




Ø  Doka and Huda Ras

The dang dance of the tribals of Dang district is known as 'Chala'.





Ø  Mandwa and Aleni-Haleni dance.

Mandwa and Aleli-Haleli are the folk dances of Tahvi tribals of Chhota Udepur district. But the Aleshi-Haleni dance is the seasonal dance of tribal girls.

Ø  Handkerchief dance

 The Thakoros of Mehsana district dance with handkerchiefs in their hands during Holi and fairs.




Ø  Chili dance.

Women of the Turi community perform this dance on wedding occasions through hand gestures without clapping.



Ø  Hali Dance:

This is the dance of Dubla tribes of Surat-Tapi district.

Ø  Uttarardha classical dance festival.

It is held in Modhera in the month of January.




Ø  Tanariri Music Festival.

 Held in Vadnagar.


Ø  Spring festival

 Held in February in Gandhinagar.


Ø  Ranotsava

 Held in the deserts of Kutch in December-January.



Ø  Dang Durbar

Ahva has a dance festival held in the month of March.
